S5W-00173: Mark Ruskell (Mid Scotland and Fife)

Scottish Green Party

Date lodged: 23 May 2016

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S4W-24398 by Aileen McLeod on 19 February 2015, when the sub-committee on climate change will next meet; what matters will be discussed, and which (a) cabinet secretaries and (b) ministers will attend.

Answered by: Roseanna Cunningham 31 May 2016

The Scottish Cabinet is the forum for consideration of key policy issues, including major cross-cutting issues such as climate change, and decisions on whether to delegate responsibility for specific issues to a cabinet sub-committee is a matter for the cabinet.

While no decision has yet been made by the incoming cabinet, the new appointment of a cabinet secretary for environment, climate change and land reform will ensure that the challenge of climate change is addressed at the highest level of government.
