S5W-03323: Mary Fee (West Scotland)

Scottish Labour

Date lodged: 30 September 2016

To ask the Scottish Government how many people begin a prison sentence with a tenancy and how many are supported to keep their tenancy for when they leave prison.

Answered by: Michael Matheson 26 October 2016

I have asked Colin McConnell, Chief Executive of the Scottish Prison Service, to respond. His response is as follows:

Information on how many people begin a prison sentence with a tenancy and how many are supported to keep their tenancy for when they leave prison, is not centrally held by the Scottish Prison Service.

However, SPS ensure that through initial screening at both the induction and pre-release stage those requiring housing support are referred to housing support services.
