S5W-05072: Jamie Greene (West Scotland)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 25 November 2016

To ask the Scottish Government whether it will work with the UK Government to ensure that the spending on digital infrastructure projects that was outlined in the Autumn Statement is aligned with its own plans.

Answered by: Fergus Ewing 6 December 2016

The UK Government’s announcement of planned investment in digital infrastructure could potentially help to deliver the Scottish Government’s world class ambitions and our commitment to deliver 100% superfast broadband access by 2021.

Although the Scottish Government was not consulted on the proposals prior to their announcement, we will work closely with the UK Government to ensure that Scotland benefits from this new funding, given the unique challenges that we face in deploying telecoms networks.
