S5O-01244: Andy Wightman (Lothian)

Scottish Green Party

Date lodged: 6 September 2017

To ask the Scottish Government for what reason it plans to reduce the Agri-Environment Climate Scheme budget by £42 million.

Answered by: Fergus Ewing 13 September 2017

This has been compounded by the failure of the UK Government to transfer £160 million of CAP convergence funding and also the lack of clarity on funding guarantees for after a UK exit from the EU.

The change to the indicative budgets for the Scottish Rural Development Programme, including the Agri-Environment Climate Scheme budget, is a direct result of the austerity put upon us by the UK Government. This means that I have had to change these budgets to ensure we can maximise the EU funds allocated to the SRDP.
