Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 19 January 2017

To ask the Scottish Government what it is doing to ensure adequate signage at the Raith Interchange during the current period of extensive works to ensure that road users have a clear understanding of the alterations to turn-offs and transitions in road layouts.

The M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project is a very significant investment in the Central Scotland motorway network which will greatly reduce congestion and boost the economy. Transport Scotland works closely with the contractor, Scottish Roads Partnership (SRP), to minimise disruption to traffic during the works.

All traffic management arrangements and any associated signage is subject to consultation with Police Scotland, Transport Scotland, our operating companies and contractors, and the respective local authorities.

All traffic management layouts are checked several times every day to ensure that layouts and signage are correct. Scottish Roads Partnership (SRP), the contractor for the works, has advised that the signage currently in place complies with the relevant standard for roadworks.
