S5W-10666: Alison Johnstone (Lothian)

Scottish Green Party

Date lodged: 10 August 2017

To ask the Scottish Government what plans it has to allow (a) applicants and (b) claimants of devolved benefits to allow a friend, family member or other advocate to act on their behalf.

Answered by: Jeane Freeman 4 September 2017

We have made a commitment to work closely with people with direct experience of benefits through our users, Experience Panels and stakeholders to co-design the detailed operational processes as part of service design.

We recognise that individuals may wish to seek the help and advice of others throughout the lifetime of any claim for assistance, and are making provision for this.
