Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 8 March 2018

To ask the Scottish Government what the projected intake target for 2019-20 is for undergraduate primary teaching courses, broken down by university.

Answered by: John Swinney 16 March 2018

This information is not currently available. Each year, the Scottish Government conducts a national teacher workforce planning exercise in partnership with other educational stakeholders. This annual exercise determines the requirement for newly qualified teachers and provides guidance to the Scottish Funding Council who are responsible for setting intake targets for initial teacher education courses.

The teacher workforce planning exercise for 2019-20 will commence in Autumn 2018 with the aim of the Scottish Funding Council agreeing student intake targets with universities by the end of February 2019.
