S5W-16265: Maurice Corry (West Scotland)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 30 April 2018

To ask the Scottish Government how it ensures that veterans with (a) severe musculoskeletal disorders and (b) other conditions are given early access to rehabilitation services.

Answered by: Shona Robison 9 May 2018

We welcome the work carried out by the Scottish Veterans Commissioner and the publication of his report Veterans Health and Wellbeing: A Distinctive Scottish Approach. We will consider the findings and recommendations carefully, including how we respond to the challenges raised.

The current policy states that all veterans should receive priority treatment for health problems as a result of service to their country, subject to clinical priority for all patients.
