S5W-20368: David Stewart (Highlands and Islands)

Scottish Labour

Date lodged: 4 December 2018

To ask the Scottish Government what steps it is taking to monitor (a) uptake of and (b) outcomes from cardiac rehabilitation, and whether it will consider participating in the National Audit of Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Answered by: Jeane Freeman 18 December 2018

Cardiac rehabilitation is a priority in our Heart Disease Improvement Plan (2014). Work is currently underway with Health Boards, to implement an assessment needs cardiac rehabilitation model with intervention, that will be based on need and choice, providing an individualised programme of care.

The Scottish Government is taking forward work on a pilot project with a number of Health Boards including NHS Highland, to support participation in the National Audit Cardiac Rehabilitation (NACR) to improve the monitoring of cardiac rehabilitation and care of patients.
