To ask the Scottish Government how many teachers there are per 100,000 pupils, and what information it has regarding how this compares with (a) England and (b) Wales.

The latest available statistics show that there were 7,495 teachers per 100,000 pupils in Scotland in 2018-19.

The latest available statistics for England and Wales are for the year 2017-18 and show:

(a) 5,586 teachers per 100,000 pupils in England

(b) 5,119 teachers per 100,000 pupils in Wales
